5 Good Drinks For Drinking After Exercise
After exercise, we may be tired and dehydrated, so the energy need to provide to the body after exercise is very important, especially within 30 minutes to two hours after exercise. The easiest way is a drink with protein and carbohydrates, and experts recommend a few of these drinks :
1. Chocolate Milk
Chocolate Milk is a good choice of post-workout drink because chocolate milk contains high protein and carbohydrates. A glass of low-fat chocolate milk provides about 8 grams of protein. Protein and carbohydrates are all important to help replenish energy and help muscles recover faster. Chocolate milk also provides other nutrients such as calcium, potassium, sodium and magnesium that we lose through perspiration.
2. Protein Shake
Protein powder has everything the body needs after exercise. But experts recommend choosing protein powders that contain protein, carbohydrates and fats. Protein helps to heal muscles. For muscle healing, it is better to eat 20-30 grams of protein.
3. Fresh Orange Juice
Fresh orange juice is also a good choice of drink after exercise. Some of us may not be aware of the nutrients in fresh orange juice. Fresh orange juice contains vitamin C and potassium which we lose when we sweat. On the other hand, fresh orange juice also contains easily digestible carbohydrates.
4. Coconut Juice
Coconut juice is not only delicious, it also contains electrolytes such as magnesium and potassium. Although coconut juice contains low sodium and is not the best choice for heavy exercisers, but coconut juice can also help replenish fluids. Therefore, coconut juice is a good drink for exercisers to use less energy.
5. Water
Water is very important before, during or after exercise because it can prevent dehydration. Normal water contains a small amount of electrolytes, so after heavy exercise, we can choose mineral water instead, because mineral water contains more electrolyte than regular water. However, out of electrolytes needs, we also need protein and carbohydrates to help repair the same muscle.
